Lonnie Walker IV’s return to the NBA nearly didn’t happen. On February 18, just two hours before his opt-out clause expired, he received an offer from the Philadelphia 76ers, which he promptly accepted. Walker had been playing for Žalgiris Kaunas in Lithuania and had an NBA opt-out clause valid until 10 PM that day. Reflecting on the close timing, he shared on social media:

“Got the call at 10 pm. 2 hours before my clause ended. Still processing it all but truly blessed, humbled, and excited for this next chapter.”

The 26-year-old guard, who previously played for the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers, and Brooklyn Nets, brings career averages of 9.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. His addition aims to bolster the 76ers’ performance as they strive to improve their standing in the Eastern Conference. Walker is expected to make his debut against the Boston Celtics, the team that waived him before the season, on February 20.
