The more things change, the more they stay the same for the Avalanche.

Just a few games after getting most of their forwards back from injuries and suspensions, two were placed right back on the shelf.

Miles Wood was placed on injury reserve, the team announced on Thursday. The move came following Colorado’s 2-1 shootout victory over the Vegas Golden Knights the previous night at Ball Arena. Wood played six games since returning from his previous ailment and had a goal and an assist. Against the Knights, he crashed hard into the boards in the first period, which might be the cause of the injury, albeit it’s not confirmed. The league is off for the Thanksgiving holiday but Colorado will travel to Dallas Friday for a matchup against the Stars later that evening.

Wood was placed on IR a day after fellow forward Jonathan Drouin was announced out with an upper-body injury. Head coach Jared Bednar confirmed that Droun’s injury is related to the upper-body injury he suffered against Vegas on opening night. Drouin, like Wood, had just recently returned from an injury before being placed back on the shelf.

The duo rejoins Ross Colton (foot) and Gabriel Landeskog (knee) on the injured list. Colorado called up Chris Wagner from the AHL to replace Wood in the lineup after Chase Bradley got the call to enter the lineup Wednesday in place of Drouin.
