Tampa Bay Rays vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

Friday, August 23, 2024 – 10:10 PM ET at Dodger Stadium

Tyler Alexander’s Inconsistencies

The Rays will start Tyler Alexander tonight. He’s a left-handed pitcher who has allowed a .209 ISO and wOBA of .337 to 329 batters this year.

Alexander hasn’t even pitched deep in games. Instead, he’s thrown an average of 76.56 pitches per appearance, allowing a high fly ball and line drive rate with a low ground ball rate.

The lefty will face off against a few power sluggers in the Dodgers lineup that can do damage. Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Teoscar Hernandez are hitting lefties steadily over the last month.

What Happened To Bobby Miller?

The Dodgers will counter with righty Bobby Miller. He’s thrown to 155 batters this season and has battle injuries. But with that said, he’s given up a .243 ISO and wOBA of .416 to those 155 batters.

Like Alexander, he hasn’t been able to pitch deep into games throughout the year. In addition, he’s allowed 60% of hard contact since his return.

Like the Dodgers, the Rays have a few batters that can take advantage, including Brandon Lowe, Dylan Carlson, and Josh Lowe.

MLB Computer Pick

Let’s back the Over 9 in this game. Both starters have been below average throughout the year.
