Former NBA player Austin Rivers recently stirred some controversy with his comments about a hypothetical NBA-NFL crossover. NFL legend Randy Moss has since weighed in.

Rivers on Tuesday drew the ire of NFL stars during his appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show.” Rivers claimed that there are at least 30 current NBA players who could play in the NFL right now. Conversely, the 11-year NBA veteran stated that there aren’t 30 NFL players who could make the similar switch to basketball.

Several former NFL players responded to Rivers’ hot take. Moss was one of them. The Hall-of-Fame wide receiver reposted a basketball highlight reel of former Iowa defensive back Cooper DeJean, whom the Philadelphia Eagles selected in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

DeJean’s athleticism was on full display in the video. The incoming Eagles rookie threw down several monstrous dunks as a high school hooper.

“Gnite [sic] I’m going to bed!!” captioned Moss in his post.

But Moss arguably didn’t have the most savage response to Rivers. That distinction belongs to former Houston Texans star JJ Watt.

Rivers played 11 seasons in the NBA. He averaged 8.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game primarily as a bench player.
