Nobody is happier about Travis Kelce’s contract extension with the Kansas City Chiefs than the team’s starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Kelce reportedly signed a massive two-year deal with the Chiefs that makes him the highest-paid tight end in the NFL.

Mahomes on Monday congratulated his superstar teammate with a post on X.

“I told yall [sic] I’ll never let him leave!! Congrats my guy!” wrote Mahomes.

Kelce’s new deal is reportedly worth $34.25 million over two years. The $17.125 million average annual value of Kelce’s deal edges out the $17 million per year made by New York Giants tight end Darren Waller, who held the title of highest-paid tight end last season.

Mahomes and Kelce have played six full seasons together in Kansas City. Kelce has led the Chiefs in receptions in all but one campaign since Mahomes took over as the team’s starting quarterback in 2018.

Kelce made the Pro Bowl in all six seasons with Mahomes. Kelce won three Super Bowls and earned three 1st-team All-Pro nods during that span.

The extension quells doubts about Kelce potentially following in his brother Jason Kelce’s footsteps by retiring in the near future.

For now, the Chiefs’ 34-year-old tight end will help the team try to become the first ever three-peat Super Bowl winners.
