A notable AFC team reportedly has plans to talk with Kliff Kingsbury about their vacant offensive coordinator position.

NFL reporter Peter King appeared on 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh and reported that the Steelers will talk with Kingsbury about their OC job.

This is a huge development for the Steelers and their fans.

The Steelers were 28th in the league in points scored this season. The offense’s inability to score points was a sore spot all season long and resulted in the mid-season firing of Matt Canada. Eddie Faulkner took over the OC position in late November, and in his first game as OC, the team totaled over 400 yards of offense for the first time all season.

The offense didn’t score over 30 points in a single game until Mason Rudolph took over as quarterback and led the Steelers to 34 and 30 points in Weeks 16 and 17 respectively.

Though his time as a head coach with Texas Tech and the Arizona Cardinals produced average results at best, Kingsbury is regarded as a top offensive mind. There are still questions about whether the Steelers have a franchise quarterback on their roster. But a coordinator like Kingsbury could help install a passing game that would help provide that answer.
