An NFC South club became the latest NFL team to complete an interview with sought-after Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh.

On Tuesday evening, the Atlanta Falcons announced on X/Twitter that they have interviewed the Wolverines head coach for their head coaching position. Harbaugh also interviewed with the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday.

The Falcons also interviewed future Hall of Famer Bill Belichick, who parted ways with the New England Patriots after 24 years with the organization. Harbaugh and Belichick are the two biggest names in the 2024 NFL head coaching cycle, though it’s unclear if the former will actually leave the college ranks for a second go in the pros.

Aside from the Falcons and Chargers, the Carolina Panthers, Las Vegas Raiders, Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans and Washington Commanders also have head coaching vacancies. The Patriots quickly filled their head coach vacancy by promoting inside linebackers coach Jerod Mayo to replace Belichick.

Harbaugh coached the Wolverines to a national championship game victory over Washington last week, Michigan’s first since 1997. Through nine years at Michigan, Harbaugh has compiled a record of 89-25-0.

Before going back to the college ranks, Harbaugh served as head coach of the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 to 2014. He led the team to three straight NFC Championship Games in his first three years on the job, as well as a trip to Super Bowl 47.
