Connor Bedard doesn’t want to get ahead of the future. As much as everyone else may be saying, he’s going to be the Chicago Blackhawks’ selection as the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NHL Draft, he doesn’t want to actually say that.

What Bedard was willing to say Friday at the NHL Scouting Combine was he would be honored if the Blackhawks chose him.

“Yeah, it’d be awesome,” said Bedard, who is coming off a WHL season where he had 71 goals and 72 assists in 57 games. “The history with that organization and that city with sports would be unbelievable. We’ll see what happens. If they do select me, that would be a huge honor.”

Bedard wouldn’t say how many teams he interviewed with during the week in Buffalo. He described it as “a pretty good amount.” He met with the Blackhawks for about 20 minutes on Wednesday.
