The San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers meet Saturday in MLB action from Dodger Stadium. This will be the second installment in a three-game weekend series. In the Friday opener, the Dodgers powered out a two-run win.

San Diego Padres

The Padres played the Twins this week, losing two of the three games in that series. On Friday versus the Dodgers, San Diego had the game tied briefly 2-2 in the seventh but ultimately lost 4-2. Starter Blake Snell lasted 6.0 innings with two earned on four hits and four walks.

As starter for the Saturday game two, the Padres will go with Joe Musgrove. Over his three starts this year Musgrove is 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA and 14 Ks in 13.1 innings, Musgrove has a career record of 51-54 with a 3.84 ERA over 173 games (147 starts).

Los Angeles Dodgers

Over on the Dodgers’ side, they managed two wins in three games versus the Brewers in their last series. On Friday Los Angeles had six hits in the victory. Dustin May managed 6.2 frames in the start with two earned, five hits and a walk.

Julio Urias will make the start for the Dodgers on Saturday. Over his eight starts this year Urias is 4-3 with a 3.77 ERA and 48 Ks in 45.1 innings. He’s 53-20 with a 2.89 career ERA in 145 games (109 starts).

The Padres are 5-1 in their last six Saturday games and 2-6 in their last eight in game two of a series. San Diego is 5-2 in their last seven versus the NL West.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers are 90-41 in their last 131 overall and 50-22 in their last 72 versus the NL West. LA is 98-36 in their last 134 at home.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll stick with the Dodgers in this one. Urias has done well over his last two starts, notching 12.2 combined innings with three earned on nine hits and two walks. As for Musgrove, he had a rough start versus the Giants late last month (3.1 innings; seven earned) but bounced back with 5.0 clean frames versus the Dodgers in his last outing. On Friday Los Angeles didn’t have the greatest offensive performance, but it was enough behind a solid pitching run. I think the Dodgers will keep it going here.
