Texas freshman quarterback Arch Manning has not accepted any money for name, image and likeness rights, coach Steve Sarkisian said Wednesday.

“Everybody is under this assumption that this was an NIL deal for him to come to the University of Texas. It was absolutely not,” said Sarkisian, who addressed Manning’s recruiting while speaking at a Houston Touchdown Club luncheon.

Sarkisian said Cooper Manning, Arch’s father and older brother to Peyton and Eli, texted him after Arch committed to the Longhorns: “If there’s a message to tell any of the other recruits who you’re recruiting is that Arch Manning is coming to Texas because he loves the University of Texas. He loves the coaches and he loves the program. This is not about NIL. He’s taken zero money from an NIL perspective.”
