Leading up to this year’s NBA trade deadline, we all assumed the Toronto Raptors would be sellers.

That assumption was logical enough. The Raptors have been mediocre this season. They have plenty of quality players that teams would like. Moving them would have been reasonable.

They didn’t. Instead, the Raptors actually acquired Jakob Poeltl. What is this organization planning?

Who knows. They could simply be biding their time. If the Raptors don’t finish out 2022-23 strong, they could still be big-time sellers this summer.

By contrast, if they look a little different after landing Poeltl, they could be buyers once again.

Could they trade for Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers?
