While the 2022 NFL season has concluded, that doesn’t mean that football entirely vacates the headlines. After all, the XFL got off to a great start this past weekend and NFL free agency is now less than a month away. If that isn’t enough to hold you over, the 2023 NFL Draft takes place on April 27, a month after free agency begins. 

But before we can get to all of the offseason drama, we first have to get through the 2023 NFL Combine. At this event, players at all position groups will be scouted and judged on their performance in a variety of categories and exercises. Here’s a look at when the 2023 NFL Combine will take place, plus a primer on how to watch it.

When is the NFL combine?

The 2023 NFL combine will take place from Tuesday, February 28 through Monday, March 6. According to the NFL, a total of 319 prospects have been invited to attend this year’s event, which will take place in Indianapolis.

When does the NFL combine start?

The 2023 NFL Combine officially starts on Tuesday, February 28. However, the first 3 days of the combine traditionally consist of orientations, medical evaluations and prospect meetings, and this part of the event isn’t televised or open to the general public. Per NFL.com, the actual workouts begin on Thursday, March 2 and will follow the following schedule by position group:

• Thursday, March 2: Defensive line, linebackers
• Friday, March 3: Defensive backs
• Saturday, March 4: Quarterbacks, wide receivers, tight ends
• Sunday, March 5: Running backs, offensive linemen

How to watch the NFL combine

From March 2 to 5, athletic drills and testing will be televised for fans to enjoy. NFL Network will continue to air the 2023 NFL Combine as it does each year. Fans may also watch the action online or on the NFL app.

NFL combine bench press record

One of the measurables at the NFL combine is the bench press drill. The record for the highest number of reps on the bench press drill goes to Justin Ernest, who was a defensive tackle out of Eastern Kentucky. Ernest completed 51 bench press reps at the 1999 NFL Combine.
