The Montreal Canadiens and the New York Rangers meet in NHL action from Madison Square Garden on Sunday night.

The Montreal Canadiens will look to rebound from a 2-1 loss to the New York Islanders in their last matchup. Nick Suzuki has a team-high 36 points with 16 goals and 20 assists while Cole Caufield also has 34 points with 25 goals of his own and Kirby Dach has 26 points with 19 assists of his own on the year. Jake Allen is 10-16-1 with a 3.52 GAA and a .892 save percentage while Sam Montembault is 7-7-2 with a 3.31 GAA and an .905 save percentage between the pipes for Montreal this season.

The New York Rangers will look to build on a 2-1 OT win over Dallas last time out. Artemi Panarin leads the Rangers with 46 points and Mika Zibanejad’s right behind with 45 points, with Zibanejad owning 19 goals along with 26 assists while Panarin has a team-high 35 assists as part of his 46 points. Adam Fox has 44 points with 9 goals and 35 assists while Chris Kreider also has 30 points with a team-high 19 goals of his own this season. Igor Shesterkin’s gone 20-6-6 with a 2.44 GAA and a .917 save percentage while Jaroslav Halak has gone 4-6-1 with a 2.85 GAA and an .896 save percentage this season.

Montreal is 19-47 in their last 66 road games and 40-89 in their last 129 games overall while the over is 13-5-1 in their last 19 games played on no rest. New York is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall and 7-1 in their last 8 home games while the under is 48-22-2 in their last 70 games against a team with a losing record.

I get the case to be made for either side in this game, but I’m backing the Rangers here. New York is the better team and the rested team as well, and while we likely see the backup goalie for the Rangers here, Jaroslav Halak held the Rangers in check last time these two met just a few days ago. I think the Rangers get it done at home here, so give me the Rangers here.
