Week 12 NFL player awards futures: MVP, OPOY and COPY odds & analysis – Patrick Mahomes takes control of MVP race

It may be hard to believe, but we are well past the halfway point of the 2022 NFL regular season. There is still a long way to go, of course, but it’s never too early to start thinking about player awards. The race is on for MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Comeback Player of the Year, Coach of the Year and more.

With Week 12 coming up soon, it’s time to take a look at some of the especially intriguing awards races.

2022 NFL MVP odds

Patrick Mahomes was a +150 favorite heading into Week 11 and now he is minus money following late-game heroics against the Chargers on Sunday Night Football. After Mahomes threw 3 touchdown passes (all to Travis Kelce), pretty much everyone else saw their odds get longer. Most notably, Jalen Hurts fell from +400 to +550 — no surprise given that Philadelphia struggled for a 2nd consecutive week.

MVP favorites:

Patrick Mahomes -150
Jalen Hurts +550
Tua Tagovailoa +500
Josh Allen +700
Joe Burrow +1800
Lamar Jackson +3000
Kirk Cousins +6000
Geno Smith +4000
Tyreek Hill +8000

2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year odds

There is a difference between “most valuable” and “best,” which is why non-quarterbacks have a chance in this department – much unlike in the MVP race, where no player at any other position has better than +8000 odds (Miami receiver Tyreek Hill). In fact, non-QBs have more than just a chance to win OPOY; they are favored. Hill was the second choice behind Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson prior to Week 11, but Minnesota’s disaster against Dallas has flipped the script. Now it’s Hill who holds the top spot ahead of Jefferson, Hurts and Mahomes.

Offensive Player of the Year favorites:

Tyreek Hill +250
Justin Jefferson +350
Jalen Hurts +500
Patrick Mahomes +750
Derrick Henry +1200
Stefon Diggs +1400
Lamar Jackson +1800
Travis Kelce +2200
Josh Allen +2500
Saquon Barkley +2500

2022 NFL Comeback Player of the Year odds

There are a couple of fascinating 2-man battles – or at least virtual 2-man battles – for various awards right now and 1 of them is for Comeback Player of the Year. Barring some craziness down the stretch, it’s coming down to Geno Smith and Saquon Barkley. They have now swapped the first and second spots, respectively, in 3 consecutive weeks. It’s Smith who is the slight favorite now following Barkley’s underwhelming effort this past Sunday.

Comeback Player of the Year favorites:

Geno Smith -130
Saquon Barkley -105
Derrick Henry +2000
Christian McCaffrey +2500
Travis Etienne +2800
Nick Gates +3500

2022 Coach of the Year odds

Nick Sirianni’s Eagles have been unspectacular over the past 2 weeks, 9-1 is 9-1. As long as his team maintains the best record in football, you have to like Sirianni’s chances — which improved on Sunday when Minnesota head coach Kevin O’Connell watched his squad implode against Dallas. Moreover, Brian Daboll’s upstart Giants got manhandled by the Lions.

Coach of the Year favorites:

Nick Sirianni -130
Mike McDaniel +500
Kevin O’Connell +650
Brian Daboll +800
Robert Saleh +1000
Pete Carroll +1200
