Saturday's college basketball game between New Mexico and New Mexico State was postponed after a deadly shooting on New Mexico's campus.

According to the New Mexico State Police, they received a report concerning an altercation at 3 a.m. between a 19-year-old male and a 21-year-old male in which both men suffered gunshot wounds.  

"In light of the tragic incident earlier this morning on the University of New Mexico campus, the University of New Mexico and New Mexico State University have jointly decided to postpone this evening's men's basketball contest between the schools," a joint statement from both schools said. "Our thoughts are with all of those impacted by this tragedy."

The university had issued alerts notifying the campus that the shooting happened near Alvarado Hall, a student dorm.
