The Akron Zips and Eastern Michigan Eagles do battle Tuesday in week 11 MAC college football action from InfoCision Stadium. Eastern Michigan is 5-4 overall this year and coming off a loss to Toledo. As for Akron, they’re sitting at 1-8 following a loss to Miami-OH in their last outing. Eastern Michigan opened up their year on a 2-2 run with wins over Eastern Kentucky and Arizona State alongside losses to Louisiana and Buffalo. The Eagles beat UMass and Western Michigan in the next pair, then lost to NIU and beat Ball State.

Back on October 29 versus Toledo, the Eagles had a 24-17 lead going into the final quarter. Eastern Michigan was shut out in that frame for a 27-24 loss. QB Taylor Powell threw for 61 yards and a pick, while Samson Evans rushed 24 times for 88 yards and three scores.

Over on the Akron side, they kicked off their season with a tense overtime win versus St. Francis PA 30-23. Since then it’s been a string of losses to Michigan State, Tennessee, Liberty, Bowling Green, Ohio, Central Michigan, Kent State and Miami-OH.

In the Miami-OH matchup, the Zips were down 17-3 by the break. Akron scored just six points in the second half for a 27-9 loss. QB DJ Irons managed 316 yards with one TD and one interception while also leading the rush on 14 carries for 58 yards.

The Eagles are 4-1 ATS in their last five Tuesday games and 28-12 ATS in their last 40 road games. EMU is 1-4 ATS versus a team with a losing record.
Meanwhile, the Zips are 19-39 ATS in their last 58 at home and 17-35 ATS in their last 52 overall. Akron is 5-12 ATS in their last 17 in November.

PICK: I’m going with Eastern Michigan but probably not touching it. Despite holding the ball for 36:07 against Toledo in their last outing, the Eagles notched some pretty abysmal offensive numbers. EMU had just 217 total yards, 3.1 yards per play and 17 first downs. That said, Eastern Michigan has put up 20 or more points in all but one game this season.

As for Akron, they’ve been quite permissive to opposing offenses this year. The Zips have given up 21 or more points in every game so far. Eastern Michigan should have some opportunities to score in this one, but I’m not going near it.
