The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and Appalachian State Mountaineers clash Thursday in a week 10 Sun Belt college football game from Brooks Stadium.

The Appalachian State Mountaineers will look to build on back-to-back wins after a 42-3 win over FCS Robert Morris last time out to climb to 5-3 on the year. Chase Brice has thrown for 1,921 yards, 22 touchdowns and 4 interceptions on 64.9% passing while Camerun Peoples has a team-high 551 rushing yards and Daetrich Harrington and Nate Noel have combined for 571 rushing yards this season. Christan Horn has a team-high 414 receiving yards while Dashaun Davis has 371 receiving yards with a team-high 31 catches and three more Mountaineers each have 200+ receiving yards this season for App State’s receiving group. On defense, Nick Ross has a team-high 46 total tackles while Nick Hampton has 7 sacks and Dexter Lawson Jr. has 3 interceptions.

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will try to build on their 24-13 win over Marshall last time out to improve to 7-1 on the year. Grayson McCall has thrown for 2,061 yards, 19 touchdowns and an interception with a 68.8% completion percentage while CJ Beasley has a team-high 559 rushing yards with 4 touchdowns while Reese White has 334 rushing yards as well this season. Sam Pinckney has a team-high 45 catches for 628 receiving yards while Jared Brown has 622 receiving yards and a team-high 5 touchdowns with 34 receptions. On defense, Charles Arnold Jr. and Lance Boykin each have a pair of interceptions. JT Killen has 65 total tackles and as a unit, Coastal Carolina has 21 sacks and 8 interceptions this season.

Appalachian State is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 conference games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a win. Coastal Carolina is 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 games overall and 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 home games while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 conference games.

I get the case to be made for App State here, as the offense has looked good in recent games, but it’s worth noting that there were two FCS opponents there and a Georgia State team that’s underperformed a lot this season. Coastal’s not as stout defensively as they were in the last couple of seasons, but they’re usually a tough out at home and have done well against the tougher opposition as of late. I just this we’re getting points with a solid Coastal team as a home dog and I’m not passing on them here. Give me Coastal Carolina and the free points here.
