Welcome to the new NBA season, Pickswise Nation! Basketball is back tonight and we also have MLB playoff games plus NHL and EPL soccer to enjoy, so let’s get straight to making your next bet better!

About Last Night

Wilson hurt as Broncos lose to Chargers in overtime
The Russell Wilson era in Denver is not going to plan, with the Broncos falling to 2-4 following last night’s 19-16 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. The QB also hurt his hamstring in the fourth quarter. Denver did at least cash Clevta’s best bet of Broncos +5 as the underdogs covered. That gave Pickswise a final Week 6 record of 11-3 on spread picks!

Champions back on track
With no MLB action on Monday due to the Guardians-Yankees rainout, NHL provided last night’s other sporting entertainment. Champions the Avalanche got back to winning ways with a 6-3 victory over the winless Wild, while the Bruins, Stars and Hurricanes all moved to 3-0 with Monday wins. The Coyotes got their first victory of the season with a 4-2 upset of the Maple Leafs.

Today’s Slate

NBA is here!
The 2022-23 NBA season starts tonight with an awesome doubleheader on TNT as the 76ers play the Celtics at 7:30 pm ET followed by champions the Warriors hosting the Lakers at 10:00 pm ET. Read today’s NBA picks.

NLCS starts, ALDS (hopefully) finishes
We have been handed an unexpected MLB double bill today after Game 5 between the Guardians and Yankees was rained out last night. The teams will try again at 4:07 pm ET this afternoon on TBS. After that, the NLCS no one predicted (send us a screenshot if you did!) starts between the Phillies and Padres at 8:07 pm ET on FS1. Check out all of today’s MLB predictions.

8-game NHL slate
We have a battle of unbeaten teams in the NHL tonight as the 3-0 Golden Knights visit the 2-0 Flames at 9:00 pm ET, while someone is going to get their first point of the season when the 0-3 Canucks go to the 0-3 Blue Jackets at 7:00 pm ET. Read today’s NHL previews.

Midweek EPL action
There are 9 EPL games over the next 3 days, including 2 tonight, and our soccer picks are all available now.

Best Bet of the Day

NHL: Tampa Bay Lightning -1.5 over Philadelphia Flyers
7:00 pm ET, ESPN+

The Flyers finished last in the Metro Division last year, while the Lightning made it to the Stanley Cup Finals for the third straight season. Although they fell to the Colorado Avalanche, they’re still in a different class to the Flyers. Philly is 2-0 but that should be taken with a grain of salt. Those games were against the Devils, who finished 1 spot above the Flyers last season, and the Canucks, who threw that game away. With 2 days of rest and being back at home, the Lightning should look much more like they did against the Flyers last season. Tampa took down Philly by a combined score of 15-4 in 3 meetings last season, and another multi-goal win should be in-store today. Read our full Flyers vs Lightning predictions.

Stat of the Day

Quote of the Day

“This is very disappointing. We need to have a lot more urgency across the board.”

Things are not going the way head coach Nathaniel Hackett would have wanted for the 2-4 Broncos.
