The Seattle Mariners and the Houston Astros meet in game one of the ALDS in MLB action from Minute Maid Park on Tuesday.

The Seattle Mariners punched their ticket to the ALDS with a 10-9 win over the Toronto Blue Jays in the wild card round last time out. J.P. Crawford, Carlos Santana and Cal Raleigh each have three RBIs up to this point with Santana and Raleigh each chipping in a home run while Raleigh, Eugenio Suarez and Adam Frazier each have 4 hits with Suarez popping in a pair of doubles. Logan Gilbert will get the start here and was 13-6 with a 3.20 ERA and 174 strikeouts in the regular season.

The Houston Astros come into the postseason with the first round bye, an AL West division title and the best record in the AL after finishing the year at 106-56. Alex Bregman has 142 hits with 38 doubles, 23 home runs and 93 RBIs. Yordan Alvarez has a team-high 37 home runs and 97 RBIs and Kyle Tucker has 30 home runs and 107 RBIs as well this season. Jeremy Pena also has a .253 batting average with 22 home runs and 63 RBIs of his own this season. Jose Altuve also has 158 hits with 39 doubles, 28 homers and 57 RBIs. Justin Verlander will start game one and was 18-4 with a 1.75 ERA and 185 strikeouts in the regular season.

Seattle is 13-3 in their last 16 Tuesday games and 4-1 in their last 5 division games while the under is 5-0-1 in their last 6 series-opening games. Houston is 14-3 in their last 17 ALDS home games and 36-16 in their last 52 games overall while the under is 5-1-1 in their last 7 playoff games.

I get the case to be made for the Mariners after such a massive comeback and a never say die attitude in that series against Toronto. The problem is that this is still a fairly quick turnaround to have to go from that rally to take on a rested Astros team that has their ace on the mound who has stifled the Mariners often. I like Logan Gilbert, especially in his road starts, but this is just a bad spot for him to make his postseason debut. Give me the Astros -1.5 here.
