Our updated college football top 25 power rankings show plenty of love to the Magnolia State heading into Week 6, with Ole Miss and Mississippi State among the biggest risers after earning big-time SEC wins on Saturday.

Even before the games began, Week 5 just had the feel of being a slate that would cause major turmoil in the college football power rankings. After a Saturday filled with upsets, thrilling finishes, and a few very close calls, that gut feeling was proven to be correct. SBR’s college football power rankings for Week 6 feature three newcomers and plenty of drastic movement.

Now that we are five weeks into the season, it’s important to remember that these weekly power ratings are based more on the overall strength and quality of teams as opposed to win-loss records. While results certainly matter, the quality of competition faced also must be considered. As teams dive into conference play, weighing the strength and depth of leagues against one another will become even more important.

Here are our updated college football power rankings along with an early look at matchups and Week 6 betting odds for each team (odds via BetMGM).

Updated College Football Top 25

Newly ranked: UCLA, Wake Forest, Kansas State

Dropped out: Oklahoma, Florida State, Pittsburgh

First five out: Florida State, Texas, TCU, Washington State, Cincinnati

College Football Power Rankings: Week 6

25) Washington(dropped 3)

Week 6: at Arizona State (WAS -14 | O/U 58.5)

Despite being tripped up for the first time this season at UCLA last week, Washington continues to cling to a spot in our power rankings. Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. very nearly brought the Huskies all the way back after a rough start. It’s difficult to envision a dysfunctional Arizona State team being able to keep pace with Washington’s electrifying offense. With the spread currently under two touchdowns, the Huskies are the preferred side early in the week.

24) Kansas State (NR)

Week 6: at Iowa State (KSU -2 | O/U 45.5)

While Kansas State was impressive in a win over Texas Tech last week, the Wildcats’ previous win over Oklahoma may not carry the same amount of luster based on how the Sooners fared against TCU. At the same time, perhaps a beatdown of Missouri looks even better after the Tigers gave Georgia all it could handle. K-State is laying 2 points on the road against Iowa State in Week 6. If the line gets up to 3, bettors may wish to consider taking the points with the Cyclones.
