The Philadelphia Phillies and the Washington Nationals meet in a doubleheader in an NL East division matchup in MLB action from Nationals Park on Saturday.

The Philadelphia Phillies will look to build some steam after a 5-1 win over Washington before the second half of Friday’s double-dip was postponed. Entering Friday, Nick Castellanos has 137 hits with 27 doubles and 61 RBIs while Kyle Schwarber also has team-highs of 42 home runs and 87 RBIs as well this season. Alec Bohm’s posting a .288 batting average and a team-high 161 hits while Rhys Hoskins has 29 home runs and 76 RBIs so far this season. J.T. Realmuto also has 82 RBIs as well this season. Kyle Gibson will start game one and is 10-7 with a 4.84 ERA and 137 strikeouts this season while Noah Syndergaard will start game two and is 9-10 with a 4.12 ERA and 92 strikeouts this season.

The Washington Nationals will try to rebound after a disappointing opening to Friday’s doubleheader before the postponement. Going into Friday, Cesar Hernandez has 133 hits with 27 doubles while Maikel Franco also has 85 hits and 15 doubles of his own. Keibert Ruiz also has 22 doubles and Nelson Cruz has 64 RBIs as well this season. Lane Thomas also has 17 home runs and 52 RBIs while Yadiel Hernandez has 41 RBIs as well this season. Anibal Sanchez will start game one and is 3-6 with a 4.06 ERA and 42 strikeouts this season while Tommy Romero will start game two and is 1-0 with a 7.71 ERA and 5 strikeouts this season.

Philadelphia is 1-5 in their last 6 games overall and 5-2 in their last 7 game two matchups while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 road games. Washington is 25-54 in their last 79 games overall and 31-73 in their last 104 home games while the under is 9-1-2 in their last 12 games overall.

I went with the approach of taking the Phillies in both legs of the doubleheader on Friday and I’m going to slightly shift it on Saturday. I’m taking the under in game one as Kyle Gibson’s struggled but he had success in his lone start against Washington this season and Anibal Sanchez has pitched really well over the last month and a half, so a low-scoring opener could be in store. In game two I’m riding with the Phillies as I don’t want to take any chances by backing Tommy Romero and Noah Syndergaard still has some mustard left in the tank to help give the Phillies another shot at a key win.
