The Chicago Cubs and the Miami Marlins meet in MLB action from LoanDepot Park on Monday evening.

The Chicago Cubs will try to rebound from a 4-3 loss at the hands of the Colorado Rockies in Sunday’s series finale. Willson Contreras has 97 hits, 21 home runs and a .246 batting average while Patrick Wisdom also has 22 home runs, 59 RBIs and 25 doubles on the year. Ian Happ also has a team-high 141 hits with 38 doubles of his own, 67 RBIs and a .273 batting average while Nico Hoerner has a .291 batting average and 129 hits as well on the year. Wade Miley will start here and is 1-0 with a 2.89 ERA and 23 strikeouts this season.

The Miami Marlins will hope to carry some momentum after their 3-1 win over the Washington Nationals in Sunday’s series finale. Jesus Sanchez has 61 hits along with 3 triples, 12 home runs, 33 RBIs and a .205 batting average. Jorge Soler has 13 doubles with 13 home runs of his own and Garrett Cooper has 102 hits, a .260 batting average and 30 doubles while Miguel Rojas also has 33 RBIs and 17 doubles and Avisail Garcia’s got 31 RBIs and 78 hits. Edward Cabrera will start here and is 5-3 with a 2.70 ERA and 63 strikeouts this season.

Chicago is 13-3 in their last 16 games against the NL East and 4-0 in their last 4 series-opening games while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 games following a loss. Miami is 5-12 in their last 17 Monday games and 17-42 in their last 59 games overall while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 games against the NL Central.

I get the case to be made either way in this one, but I’m leaning towards the under. Both Miley and Cabrera have been solid in small sample sizes so far this season and I’m really not running to the window to back either team at the plate in this one. I think this could very well be a 3-2 kind of game, so give me the under in this one.
