The Washington Nationals and the St. Louis Cardinals meet in MLB action from Busch Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

The Washington Nationals will look to rebound from a 6-5 loss to the Cardinals in Wednesday’s matchup. Going into Wednesday’s game, Cesar Hernandez has 124 hits with 26 doubles while Maikel Franco also has 85 hits and 15 doubles of his own. Keibert Ruiz also has 22 doubles and Nelson Cruz has 64 RBIs as well this season. Lane Thomas also has 15 home runs and 46 RBIs while Yadiel Hernandez has 41 RBIs as well this season. Josiah Gray will start this one for Washington and is 7-9 with a 4.91 ERA and 142 strikeouts this season.

The St. Louis Cardinals will hope to keep the momentum going after rallying for the win in Wednesday’s affair. Entering Wednesday’s game, Nolan Arenado has 28 home runs along with 89 RBIs, 36 doubles, 144 hits and a .301 batting average while Tommy Edman has a .263 batting average and 132 hits with 4 triples, 13 home runs and 51 RBIs. Dylan Carlson has 24 doubles, Paul Goldschmidt has a team-high 159 hits, 35 doubles and a .329 batting average with 34 home runs and 107 RBIs while Tyler O’Neill has 57 RBIs as well up to this point in the year. Adam Wainwright will start here and is 10-9 with a 3.21 ERA and 132 strikeouts this season.

Washington is 19-40 in their last 59 games overall and 8-20 in their last 28 game four matchups while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 game four matchups. St. Louis is 38-15 in their last 53 home games and 7-3 in their last 10 games against the NL East while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 Thursday games.

I get the case to be made for either side here, but I’m leaning towards the Cards on the run line here. Josiah Gray’s pitched well on the road and in day starts, but even in a lot of those recent outings, the Nationals have still found a way to fail to cover Gray on the run line and the bullpen’s kind of let him down. Adam Wainwright hasn’t been as stout at home in recent appearances, but he’s still the starter with a better team behind him that has a lot of confidence after their late rally for the win on Wednesday. Give me the Cards -1.5 here.
