The Colorado Rockies and the St. Louis Cardinals meet in MLB action from Busch Stadium on Wednesday.

The Colorado Rockies will look to rebound after a narrow 5-4 loss to the Cardinals in Tuesday’s matchup. Connor Joe has 89 hits and a .243 batting average with 19 doubles, 5 home runs and 4 triples. C.J. Cron has 120 hits with 26 doubles, 3 triples, a team-high 23 home runs and 80 RBIs while Ryan McMahon has 18 doubles and Charlie Blackmon has 110 hits with 16 home runs and 66 RBIs of his own up to this point in the season for the Rockies. Randal Grichuk also has 12 home runs and 58 RBIs as well this season. Brendan Rodgers has 118 hits with 25 doubles and Jose Iglesias also has 27 doubles of his own and a .311 batting average on the year. German Marquez will start here and is 6-9 with a 5.08 ERA and 104 strikeouts this season.

The St. Louis Cardinals will try to build on another W after their triumph over the Rockies on Tuesday. Nolan Arenado leads the Cards with 25 home runs along with 73 RBIs, 28 doubles, 120 hits and a .296 batting average while Tommy Edman has a .256 batting average and 110 hits with 3 triples, 8 home runs and 39 RBIs. Dylan Carlson has 24 doubles, Paul Goldschmidt has a team-high 134 hits, 31 doubles and a. 328 batting average with 29 home runs and 92 RBIs while Tyler O’Neill has 40 RBIs as well up to this point in the year. Jordan Montgomery will start here and is 5-3 with a 3.37 ERA and 106 strikeouts this season.

Colorado is 8-17 in their last 25 games overall and 16-36 in their last 52 road games while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record. St. Louis is 13-3 in their last 16 home games and 10-3 in their last 13 games overall while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games against at eam with a losing record.

I get the case to be made for the Rockies at plus money here as they’ve provided value in that role for much of this season. However, the Cardinals are in a major groove right now and while we’re starting to see Jordan Montgomery a bit overpriced again after benig traded to St. Louis, the reality is that he’s the better starter here with the better team behind him and the better bullpen once he leaves. Too much going the way of the Cardinals to pass on here so give me St. Louis -1.5.
