Any time two-star playmakers find their way to the same NBA, a common refrain emerges: “There’s only one ball”.

Obviously. At the same time, a given NBA player is only one man. Offenses that center their entire attack around one player have a tendency to be solvable come playoff time.

Realistically, as long as one of your ball-handlers doubles as a floor-spacer, any pairing can work.

Donovan Mitchell is one of the most dynamic on-ball scorers in the NBA, but he still doubles as a floor-spacer. He’s been the centerpiece of the Utah Jazz’s offense for years, but we shouldn’t assume that he couldn’t co-exist with another star offensive player.

For example, if he joined Ja Morant on the Memphis Grizzlies, they’d surely field one of the best attacks in the entire league.

Here’s a trade that gives them a chance to find out.

Utah Jazz Receive: C Steven Adams, G/F Dillon Brooks, 2023 First-Round Pick (MEM), 2024 First-Round Pick (GSW via MEM), 2025 First-Round Pick (MEM), 2026 First-Round Pick (Swap – MEM), 2027 First-Round Pick (MEM)

Memphis Grizzles Receive: G Donovan Mitchell
