Injuries are horrible. If you’re a fan of the NBA, you hate them. For that matter, you probably hate them anyway.

Still, they’re a reality of professional sports. They can also radically change a team’s outlook. A season that was supposed to be spent chasing an NBA championship can instead be used to retool.

The Memphis Grizzlies know exactly what we’re talking about. Jaren Jackson Jr. is slated to miss 4-6 months with an injury. In all likelihood, that will dampen any dreams this team had of playing for the title in 2022-23.

The Grizzlies still have a bright future. The core of this team is young, and they’re only about a piece away from being a serious title contender.

We figure they should pursue that piece this season if only to secure it ahead of 2023-24.

If Jackson comes back healthy in time for the postseason, that’s even better. Here are three bold trades that land the Grizzlies their new key piece around Ja Morant.

Orlando Magic Receive: C Steven Adams, 2024 First-Round Pick (Top 10 Protected – MEM)

Memphis Grizzlies Receive: F/C Jonathan Isaac

This is certainly a bold move to lead with. We can already hear Memphis Grizzlies fans protesting.
