The San Diego Padres and the Arizona Diamondbacks meet in an NL West division matchup in MLB action from Chase Field on Wednesday.

The San Diego Padres will try to build on a solid offensive showing in Tuesday’s matchup against Arizona. Eric Hosmer also has 71 hits with a .281 batting average and 14 doubles as well as 6 home runs and 32 RBIs this season. Jake Cronenworth and Trent Grisham each have a pair of triples as well this season with Cronenworth logging 18 doubles on the year. Mike Clevinger will start here and is 1-0 with a 3.52 ERA and 25 strikeouts this season.

The Arizona Diamondbacks will look to keep some momentum going after their late rally in Tuesday’s game against San Diego. Heading into Tuesday’s game, Daulton Varsho’s got 59 hits, 10 home runs and 32 RBIs this season. Christian Walker has a team-high 19 home runs and 38 RBIs and Ketel Marte has a team-high 23 doubles while David Peralta has 14 doubles and Pavin Smith’s also got 44 hits, 31 RBIs and has a .207 batting average on the year. Madison Bumgarner will start here and is 3-7 with a 3.75 ERA and 53 strikeouts this season.

San Diego is 7-3 in their last 10 road games and 17-7 in their last 24 games against a team with a left-handed starter while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games against a left-handed starter. Arizona is 1-5 in their last 6 games overall and 21-63 in their last 84 division games while the under is 15-5-2 in their last 22 home games against a team with a winning record.

I get why you could give a look to the D-Backs here after a big rally in Tuesday’s game, but the problem is that Madison Bumgarner has really been regressing as of late, and I don’t expect it to get better any time soon. The Padres are banged up, but Clevinger’s pitched fairly well so far and I just think the Padres find a way to close out the series with a win on Wednesday.
