The Detroit Pistons are still early enough in their rebuild that they should be drafting the best player available based on their NBA Draft board. There is no reason to reach for a player that plays a specific position as Detroit can use help pretty much anywhere.

That is also the luxury of having a player of Cade Cunningham’s caliber on the roster as a building block. He is a versatile player that can produce in numerous roles. However, one of the things that the Pistons will be looking for this offseason is a dynamic scoring option alongside him in the backcourt.

Killian Hayes has not proven he can be that player as his off-ball skills need a lot of work. Hayes is not a very good 3-point shooter, which makes him an awkward fit alongside Cunningham in the backcourt.
