The Colorado Rockies and the San Diego Padres meet Sunday in MLB action from Petco Park. This will be the finale in a four-game series. The Padres took a shutout win in the Friday opener. On Saturday in the doubleheader, San Diego kept it going with an extra-innings victory in game one. In the nightcap, the Rockies struck back with a win. Colorado couldn’t find any offense on five hits in a 9-0 loss during the Friday game one of this series. In the Saturday doubleheader, the Rockies gave up just three hits during game one but still lost 2-1. In the nightcap, Colorado scored five runs in the third inning during a 6-2 victory.

For the starter job in the Sunday game, Colorado will go with German Marquez. In 11 starts so far Marquez is 2-5 with a 6.49 ERA. Over his 61.0 innings he has 75 hits, 44 earned, 22 walks and 53 Ks.

Over on the Padres’ side, they scored two runs in four different innings on the way to 14 hits in the Friday win. On Saturday, San Diego walked off in a crazy game one thanks to Manny Machado’s base-running skills. In game two, the Padres posted four hits and three errors in the loss.

Blake Snell will take the mound for the Padres on Sunday in the finale. Over four starts so far Snell is 0-3 with a 5.68 ERA. In 19.0 innings he’s managed 12 earned, 15 hits, 11 walks and 22 Ks.

The Rockies are 38-79 in the last 117 road games and 7-20 in their last 27 in game four of a series. Colorado is 2-7 in their last nine versus a lefty starter.

Meanwhile, the Padres are 6-0 in their last six Sunday games and 7-0 in the last seven in game four of a series. The over is 11-3 in San Diego’s last 14 in game four of a series.

PICK: I’m going with San Diego. Probably staying away from this one, though. Both starters could use a good outing. Marquez has given up 14 earned over his last three starts in 17.0 innings. As for Snell, he hasn’t been terribly sharp either with an 0-2 record over his last three and nine earned in 15.1 innings of work across his last three starts. I don’t think either guy will do terribly here, so it’s probably going to come down to bullpens and late-game heroics. Should be a fun finale.
