Season series: San Francisco leads 6-2.

The Rockies had a 6.16 ERA in their previous 26 games, but Colorado pitching has held San Francisco to just 5 runs in splitting the first 2 games of the series. The Rockies 5.73 ERA overall ranks last in MLB.

The Giants rank in the league’s top 10 in both runs (5.05 per game, third) and runs allowed (4.53, ninth). Offensively, San Francisco is solid against both left- and right-handers, but the Giants are at their best against southpaws (.745 OPS).

Rockies at Giants picks and predictions

Prediction

Giants 4, Rockies 3

Money line

Colorado is worthy of a look for a lean. For that lean to materialize, we should want at least +225 in return. So PASS, but keep an eye on the tag.

Run line/Against the spread

The Frisco lineup leans left and that gets Gomber into some workable lanes. With a likable Under and the way some mid-home stand series finales have gone for the Giants BACK THE ROCKIES +1.5 (+100).

Over/Under

Figure both offenses being a bit too far out over their skis overall, and this series was set up as one for Unders … and has delivered.

That’s the call for this one as well. Webb is solid, and Gomber figures as more of a high-4s ERA pitcher. Both bullpens are better than surface numbers indicate.

BACK THE UNDER 8.5 (-125). Consider a partial-unit play unless a better price comes along.
