The St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Mets meet in MLB action from Citi Field on Thursday.

The St. Louis Cardinals will look to rebound from an 11-4 loss at the hands of the Mets in Wednesday’s matchup. Nolan Arenado leads the Cards with 9 home runs, 31 RBIs, 12 doubles, 41 hits and a .306 batting average while Tommy Edman has a .269 batting average and 35 hits with 3 triples, 4 home runs and 18 RBIs. Dylan Carlson has 9 doubles, Paul Goldschmidt has a team-high 44 hits, 13 doubles and a. 317 batting average while Tyler O’Neill has 20 RBIs as well up to this point in the year. Dakota Hudson will start here and is 3-2 with a 3.06 ERA and 20 strikeouts this season.

The New York Mets will try to build on their big win over the Cards from Wednesday’s matchup. Francisco Lindor has 33 hits along with 6 home runs, 22 RBIs and a .228 batting average while Pete Alonso also has 37 hits and 8 home runs with a team-high 29 RBIs. Starling Marte has 20 RBIs as well while Eduardo Escobar has a team-high 9 doubles as well as a triple and Brandon Nimmo has also chipped in a triple as well this season. Jeff McNeil has 33 hits, 9 doubles, a triple and a .312 batting average as well on the year. Chris Bassitt will start here and is 4-2 with a 2.34 ERA and 46 strikeouts this season.

St. Louis is 18-8 in their last 26 games against a team with a winning record and 19-9 in their last 28 games as an underdog while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 road games. New York is 8-3 in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 in their last 5 games as a home favorite while the under is 3-1-1 in their last 5 home games.

I get the case to be made for the Cardinals at plus money here, but I’m not much of a Dakota Hudson fan if I’m being 100% honest and while he’s pitched well this season, I think Chris Bassitt is the more consistent starter between the two. St. Louis will get back on track, but I think Thursday’s matchup belongs to the Mets. Give me New York in this one.
