NBA superstar Damian Lillard seems intent on remaining with the Portland Trail Blazers. If that’s the case, they need to get him some help.

After all, they traded away his longtime backcourt partner CJ McCollum at this year’s deadline. It was an understandable decision. It felt like the two offensively gifted, but defensively limited guards had reached a ceiling together.

Now, Dame is going it alone. That probably won’t last. The Blazers may have operated as a rebuilding team at this year’s deadline, but it’s widely expected that they’re retooling.

They’ll look to flip the assets they acquired at the deadline for Dame’s new sidekick.

In all likelihood, that sidekick will be a forward or a big man. With Anfernee Simons emerging as a starting-caliber guard, the Blazers need some roster balance.
