The Oakland A’s and the Toronto Blue Jays meet in MLB action from Rogers Centre on Sunday afternoon.

The Oakland A’s will look to build on their 7-5 win over the Jays from Saturday’s matchup. Sean Murphy and Cristian Pache each had a two-run home run with Murphy adding a double as well, going 2 for 4 at the dish in the win. Sheldon Neuse and Christian Behtencourt each had a double with an RBI and Kevin Smith added an RBI as well to finish off the scoring for Oakland in the win. Chad Pinder and Jed Lowrie each had a base hit as well to finish off the offense for Oakland in the win. Paul Blackburn allowed two runs on five hits while striking out three over five innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Dany Jimenez got the win to improve to 1-0 while Lou Trivino closed the 9th for his 2nd save. Adam Oller will start here and is 0-0 with a 33.75 ERA and 3 strikeouts this season.

The Toronto Blue Jays will look to bounce back from their defeat at the hands of the A’s on Saturday. Zach Collins and Matt Chapman each had a home run and two RBIs, with Collins logging three hits and a solo home run while Chapman had a two-run homer. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had an RBI to finish off the scoring for Toronto in the losing effort. Raimel Tapia added a double while Alejandro Kirk and Santiago Espinal each had a base hit as well to round out Toronto’s offense in the defeat. Hyun-Jin Ryu gave up five runs on five hits over four innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Julian Merryweather took the loss, falling to 0-2 on the year as a result. Alek Manoah will start here and is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 7 strikeouts this season.

I was starting to get concerned that this is the kind of stuff we would see in terms of like with Toronto and the hype machine as Toronto’s continuing to see these -200 lines, but even as a Jays fan, I’m not sure I can justify it. But in this instance I can. Alek Manoah is arguably my favorite pitcher in this Blue Jay rotation, and I think he’s not only a cornerstone for years to come, but he’s also the guy in the rotation that no one is talking about. Oakland’s got a fresh face on the mound in Oller here, but I don’t think he’ll bring to the table what Manoah’s packing. Give me the Jays -1.5 here to get the price down.
