The Anaheim Ducks and the New York Islanders meet in NHL action from the UBS Arena on Sunday.

The Anaheim Ducks come into this game looking to bounce back from a third straight loss in the form of a 2-1 shootout loss to New Jersey last time out. Troy Terry leads the Ducks in scoring with 50 points including a team-high 29 goals while Trevor Zegras has 43 points with 16 goals and 27 assists. Sonny Milano has 30 points while Ryan Getzlaf has 31 points this season with Getzlaf logging a team-high 28 assists on the year. John Gibson’s seen the bulk of the work in goal for Anaheim and is 17-17-8 with a 3.00 GAA and a .907 save percentage this season.

The New York Islanders will look to build on back-to-back wins after a 5-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets last time out. Mathew Barzal leads New York with 37 points split between 12 goals and a team-high 25 assists while Josh Bailey has 27 points with 21 assists and Oliver Wahlstrom has 21 points with 11 goals and 10 assists. Adam Pelech also has a team-best +20 plus/minus rating for the Isles while Brock Nelson has a team-high 23 goals this season. Ilya Sorokin has gone 19-12-7 with a 2.32 GAA and a .925 save percentage this season.

Anaheim is 1-6 in their last 7 road games and 0-4 in their last 4 games against the Metropolitan division while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games when their opponent scores 5 goals or more in their previous game. New York is 1-8 in their last 9 games following a win and 4-10 in their last 14 games against the Pacific division while the over is 4-1-1 in their last 6 games overall.

I get why New York is favored here as the Islanders have just been playing the better hockey as of late, but I’m not looking to back the Isles at this price or even chase a regulation win or a puck line win. I’m also not trying to put my hard-earned money on the Ducks as this Anaheim team is struggling right now. Instead, I’m looking at the over. Anaheim’s had their fair share of defensive issues as of late, really having a hard time keeping the puck out of the net, but the Ducks can score as well, and the Isles just scored 15 goals in their last three games. I see a higher-scoring game than you’d think between these two, so give me the over.
