Top Boxing Events: Kahn versus Brook Main Event of the Night

Jorge Linares -125 vs Zaur Abdullaev -105

  • When: Saturday, Feb. 19

Linares fights a tough dude. Abdullaev is 14-1 with 8 knockout wins.

So even though Linares has vastly more experience and lost his last bout to Devin Haney, Abdullaev has a real shot. The odds imply a close fight. It’s tough to argue against that happening. In a close fight, the dog can take this.

Boxing Pick: Zaur Abdullaev

Charles Schofield +350 vs Germaine Brown -500

  • When: Saturday, Feb. 19

Schofield is in trouble. It’s not that he doesn’t have a decent record. The opposite in fact.

The underdog has won 17 with a single loss. But Schofield has absolutely no power. He’s got one knockout victory to his credit. Germaine Brown is 11-0. Brown has just 3 knockout wins. But, hey, 3 is more than 1.

Boxing Pick: Germain Brown

Chris Namus +500 vs Natasha Jonas -1000

  • When: Saturday, Feb. 19

25-6 Uruguayan boxer Chris Namus faces a monster in Natasha Jonas. Namus has lost 2 of her last 3.

No doubt, Jonas is the best boxer Namus has faced in a long time. Jonas has a decent 10-2-1 record. 7 of Jonas’ 10 wins have come via TKO or KO. Namus has just 8 knockout wins from 25 fights. So Jonas has a big time power edge.

Boxing Pick: Natasha Jonas

Shandell Terrell Winters +475 vs Simon Kean -850

  • When: Saturday, Feb. 19

Although the record is okay, 13-6 with 12 knockout wins, it doesn’t look like the underdog Winters has any shot in this. Winters has lost 4 straight.

Simon Kean is 20-1 with 19 knockout wins. Kean’s last loss happened in 2018. Ah, but Kean doesn’t often fight boxers on Winters’ level. The favorite should win. The odds, though, make Kean an underlay.

Boxing Pick: Shandell Terrell Winters

Amir Kahn +145 vs Kell Brook -170

  • When: Saturday, Feb. 19

Amir Kahn has boxing skills for days. But the problem Kahn has always had is that he’s got a glass chin.

More importantly, Kahn has a glass chin and believes he can protect his chin with his immense boxing skills. Kell Brook is a straight up pugilist. He does everything well, which is one of the reasons Brook is 39-3 with 27 knockout wins. Brook should have no trouble dominating in this. Kahn loses another flat on his back and staring up at the lights.

Boxing Pick: Kell Brook

D’mitrius Ballard +600 vs Jaime Munguia -1200

  • When: Saturday, Feb. 19

Ballard is a good boxer. But on Saturday, he faces a dude that’s 38-0 with 30 knockout victories.

Munguia not only has incredible boxing skills because gyms in Mexico are on the same level as those in the U.S., but he’s got incredible power. Ballard’s record, 21-0 with a draw, implies he can hang with Munguia.

And Ballard will . . . for a while. But eventually, Munguia will knock him out. If you don’t want to back the favorite at the low odds, look for a knockout round prop.

Boxing Pick: Jaime Munguia
