The New York Islanders and the Edmonton Oilers meet in NHL action from Rogers Place on Friday night.

The New York Islanders will look to build on a 6-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks in their last game. Mathew Barzal leads New York with 29 points split between 11 goals and a team-high 18 assists while Josh Bailey has 20 points with 17 assists and Oliver Wahlstrom has 18 points with 10 goals and 8 assists. Adam Pelech also has a team-best +13 plus/minus rating for the Isles while Brock Nelson has a team-high 15 goals this season. Ilya Sorokin has gone 14-8-5 with a 2.34 GAA and a .924 save percentage this season.

The Edmonton Oilers will look to bounce back from a 4-1 loss to Chicago last time out. Leon Draisaitl leads the Oilers in scoring with 64 points including a team-high 33 goals and 31 assists while Connor McDavid has 61 points with 23 goals and a team-high 38 assists. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has 33 points with 27 assists and Zach Hyman has 13 goals this season. Mikko Koskinen has seen the bulk of Edmonton’s action in goal, going 16-8-2 with a 3.15 GAA and a .900 save percentage while Stuart Skinner has gone 5-6 with a 2.85 GAA and a .908 save percentage and Mike Smith’s 2-4-1 with a 3.83 GAA and an .890 save percentage this season.

New York is 1-7 in their last 8 games as a road underdog and 7-19 in their last 26 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games following a win. Edmonton is 7-16 in their last 23 games overall and 3-9 in their last 12 home games while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games as a favorite.

I get why Edmonton would be favored at home, but the Oilers haven’t looked good in their first couple of games since the all-star break. The Islanders are still playing solid hockey, especially from a defensive perspective that won’t make life any easier for the Oilers. Give me the Islanders and the plus money.
