The Seattle Kraken and the New York Islanders meet in NHL action from the UBS Arena on Wednesday night.
The Seattle Kraken come into this one looking to shake off back-to-back losses after a 3-2 loss to Boston last time out. Jared McCann leads the Kraken with 28 points with a team-high 18 goals while Jordan Eberle has 25 points split between 12 goals and 13 assists and Yanni Gourde has 23 points with 10 goals and 13 assists. Alex Wennberg has 21 points with 17 assists this season. Philipp Grubauer’s seen the majority of Seattle’s action in goal going 11-17-4 with a 3.20 GAA and an .885 save percentage this season.
The New York Islanders will try to add to a 4-1 win over Ottawa last time out. Mathew Barzal leads New York with 28 points split between 10 goals and a team-high 18 assists while Josh Bailey has 20 points with 17 assists and Oliver Wahlstrom has 18 points with 10 goals and 8 assists. Adam Pelech also has a team-best +13 plus/minus rating for the Isles while Brock Nelson has a team-high 14 goals this season. Ilya Sorokin has gone 13-8-5 with a 2.37 GAA and a .924 save percentage this season.
Seattle is 0-4 in their last 4 games played on no rest and 0-4 in their last 4 Wednesday games while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. New York is 9-1 in their last 10 games as a favorite and 1-5 in their last 6 games played on no rest while the under is 7-1 in their last 8 games as a home favorite.
I get the case to be made either way, but I’m leaning towards the under here. The scoring sure has dried up for the Kraken compared to their games from early on in the year and the Islanders continue to play a physical style of hockey that brings in 3-2 games like they’re going out of style. Give me the under in this one.
