Oklahoma landed a commitment Monday from 2023 four-star quarterback Jackson Arnold of Denton, Texas. Arnold, the No. 7 QB and No. 72 overall prospect in his class per the 247Sports Composite Rating, is the first 2023 commit for new Sooners coach Brent Venables.

Oklahoma had the nation's No. 1 recruiting class for 2023 late last season, but lost a number of high-profile commitments following the departure of former coach Lincoln Riley. Among the flips was five-star quarterback Malachi Nelson (Los Alamitos, Calif.), the nation's No. 2 overall prospect, who is following Riley to USC.

Arnold joins four-star receiver DeAndre Moore Jr. (Los Alamitos, Calif.) and three-star offensive lineman Joshua Bates (Durango, Colo.) as commits in the current 2023 Oklahoma recruiting class.
