Could Blackhawks star winger Alex DeBrincat be wearing a different jersey soon?

It’s been an extremely weird season for the Blackhawks. After going out last offseason and adding defenseman Seth Jones and goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, it appeared as though they were going to try to make on last push with Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane. But after an investigation revealed a sexual harassment cover-up, the Hawks made the decision to fire general manager Stan Bowman.

To make matters worse, they came out of the gates playing terrible hockey — which led to the firing of head coach Jeremy Colliton. Now, the Blackhawks sit at 15-18 on the season, good for seventh place in the Western Conference’s Central Division.

So, is it finally time for the rebuild? Perhaps. And their most valuable asset at the moment is undoubtedly Alex DeBrincat. On the year, the 24-year-old leads the team with 23 goals. He was also the lone representative from the Blackhawks selected in the NHL All-Star Game.

While Blackhawks fans will surely hope the team has plans to build around Alex DeBrincat for the future, a new report suggests they might be taking calls on the talented young star.
