Sean McVay already has more playoff wins than all but one coach in Rams history

The Rams Wire

Matthew Stafford was able to secure his first career playoff win in the Los Angeles Rams’ lopsided victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night. Entering this wild-card matchup, there was a ton of talk about Stafford needing to get the proverbial monkey off of his back by finally winning in the postseason. He got it done in spectacular fashion, leading the Rams to a 34-11 win.

While all the attention has been on Stafford, Sean McVay has now tied the Rams’ franchise record for playoff wins.

Even though McVay has only been in Los Angeles since 2017, he’s gone 4-3 in the postseason, tying him with John Robinson for the most playoff wins in franchise history. McVay was previously tied with Mike Martz, Dick Vermeil, Chuck Knox, and Ray Malavasi with three postseason victories.

After taking down the Cardinals with ease, the Rams are scheduled to square off with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road on Sunday. Los Angeles has defeated this Brady-led Tampa Bay squad twice in the past two seasons, so they are capable of beating them again.

If the Rams can secure their third win over the Buccaneers in the past two years on Sunday, McVay would cement himself as the winningest coach in the team’s playoff history. It would also allow Los Angeles to get one step closer to potentially playing at SoFi Stadium in the Super Bowl.
