Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid has a way with words, especially when he’s talking about food. When you can somehow combine food and football, you’re going to get an absolute gem from the legendary head coach. The latest gem from Andy Reid came from his Monday press conference ahead of the divisional round matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

It took Andy Reid two decades as an NFL head coach to win his first Super Bowl. He had disappointment in Super Bowl XXXIX, losing to the New England Patriots by three points. He didn’t even appear in the game again until the Chiefs made their historic run to Super Bowl LIV.

Asked whether winning a Super Bowl has affected his desire to go out and win another, Reid used chocolate cake to illustrate his hunger.

“If you like chocolate cake and you eat a piece, and then you have one dangling in front of your face, you’re probably going to want to eat that too,” Reid said. “Not much is going to stop you, so that’s how you feel about the Super Bowl. That is the chocolate cake with the ultimate frosting and you’re going to try to go get it if you can, the best you can.”

I think everyone can relate to that metaphor, even if you don’t like chocolate cake.

Needless to say, Reid’s appetite for a Super Bowl has never been greater and he’ll look to put his best foot forward in the divisional round. Defeating the Bills on Sunday will send Reid’s team to their fourth consecutive AFC championship game and get everyone a bit closer to that chocolate cake with the ultimate frosting.
