Neither NASCAR nor Formula 1 start their new seasons until February and March. But although the two top motor sports leagues in the world don’t start racing until the second and third months of 2022, it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have a few events from each league on our radar. Check out the races in 2022 for both F1 and NASCAR that you should circle on your Auto Racing Betting calendar.

Top F1 and NASCAR Events in 2022

  • When: Feb. 20, 2022 – Nov. 20, 2022

Daytona 500 – February 20th

NASCAR will race an exhibition event at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and the stock car racing league will race both Duels like every year, but let’s not kid ourselves. The Daytona 500 is the race that kicks off the NASCAR Season.

The chalk doesn’t always win at Daytona. In 2021, Mike McDowell took the checkered flag. So don’t blindly back the favorites.

Pennzoil 500 – March 6th

March’s top NASCAR event is the Pennzoil 500. It’s too early in March to think about which drivers will make the playoffs. But the Pennzoil was the first clue this season that eventual Cup winner Kyle Larson was back.

Geico 500 – April 24th

The Geico 500 takes place at Talladega Motor Speedway. Almost every year it’s a key race in the sense that it happens in late April, about 5 to 6 months before the playoffs start.

Coca-Cola 600 – May 29th

By late May, NASCAR teams start to think playoffs. Larson took the Coca-Cola 600 in 2021, signaling he wasn’t going anywhere.

Toyota / Save Mart 350 – June 12th

Road course races remain a mystery. Often, drivers like Aric Almirola go off at underlay odds while drivers like 2021 winner Kyle Larson offer overlay odds.

Verizon 200 at the Brickyard – July 31st

The annual race at the Brickyard, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, happened in mid-August this year. Next year’s event happens in late July. Underdog AJ Allmendinger won the 2021 version. Look for a dog to take the checkered flag at the Brickyard next year as well.

Coke Zero Sugar 400 – August 27th

Annually, the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona is the final race before the NASCAR Playoffs, which means it’s also the final race for teams and drivers to make the playoffs.

NASCAR Playoffs | September – October

The playoffs comprise 9 events in the Round of 16, the Round of 12, and the Round of 8. Check out the 9 races in the 2022 NASCAR Playoffs.

  • Southern 500
  • Hollywood Casino 400
  • Bass Pro Shops Night Race 500
  • Auto Trader Echo Park Automotive 500
  • YellaWood 500
  • Bank of America ROVAL 400
  • South Point 400
  • Dixie Vodka 400
  • Xfinity 500

NASCAR Cup Series Championship 4 – November 6th

Only 4 qualified drivers can win the NASCAR Cup. The 2022 championship race happens at Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, Arizona on Nov. 6.

Top Formula 1 Events in 2022

  • Bahrain Grand Prix – March 20

Like in 2021, the Bahrain GP will open the 2022 F1 Season. Lewis Hamilton won the 2021 event.

  • Miami Grand Prix – May 8

The Miami Grand Prix is new to the F1 Schedule. It’s the first of two races on the schedule that happen in the United States.

  • United Kingdom Grand Prix – July 11

By winning the 2021 UK Grand Prix, Hamilton ended a 6 race losing streak. The victory signaled that Hamilton wasn’t going to let Verstappen run away with the F1 title.

  • Netherlands Grand Prix – Sep. 4

Verstappen is Dutch. But his 2021 victory meant more than that. Max put some daylight on the standing between Hamilton and him. The 2022 version of the Netherlands GP could be as important.

  • USA Grand Prix – Oct. 23

Verstappen took hold of the lead with a win in the USA GP. Max threw down the gauntlet and dared Hamilton to catch him. 2022 could produce a similar important result.

  • Mexico Grand Prix – Oct. 30

Max made it back-to-back North American titles in 2021 by winning the USA Grand Prix and the Mexico Grand Prix.

  • Brazil Grand Prix – Nov. 13

Brazil signaled Hamilton’s run to the top. Heading into Brazil, it didn’t appear Hamilton had any shot of winning the F1 Championship. But the Mercedes driver ran off 3 straight victories: Brazil, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.

Hamilton and Max Verstappen have owned Formula 1 the past few years. In 2022, expect Brazil to be another important race on the F1 Schedule between the league’s two dominant drivers.

  • Abu Dhabi Grand Prix – Nov. 20

Heading into the final race on the 2021 schedule, Hamilton required a victory to overtake Verstappen. In fact, whichever driver, Hamilton or Verstappen, took the checkered flag would also take the F1 Championship.

Hamilton had the lead but Verstappen passed him to grab the checkered flag and the season victory. The 2022 F1 Season, like in 2021, could come down to the final race.
