Devin Bush offers harsh critique of Steelers teammates

On Monday, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Devin Bush was asked about his struggles this season and why he has been benched at times. Bush is on the mend from a torn ACL he suffered last season and is definitely not back to 100 percent yet.

Bush took a different angle in an attempt to justify his less-than-stellar play. Bush thinks he’s just the same guy and instead decided to throw his team under the bus to make his mediocre play less significant.

“I think I’m still the same player,” Bush said. “I feel I’m still the same player. I know I’m the same player. Obviously, nobody on the Steelers is playing up to their potential. Nobody is playing good football. I’m not going to single myself out.”

This is certainly an interesting way to characterize it but this opens Bush up to even more criticism. It’s tone-deaf at best to call out the rest of your team when you are being asked about your own play and really calls into question his maturity.

The Steelers made a huge move in the 2019 NFL draft to acquire Bush. With just a handful of games left in 2021, the jury is still very much out on if Bush can be the type of linebacker Pittsburgh was expected when they traded up to draft him.
