Clemson quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei in his college career has two starts and two major endorsement deals.
The rising sophomore is a trailblazer in the new world of NIL, a rule change by the NCAA that allows athletes to be paid for their name, image and likeness.
Uiagalelei, who already had a contract to promote Bojangles restaurants, will also be featured in advertisements for Dr Pepper. He will appear in “Fansville” commercials with college football greats and is the first current player to partner with a major brand for national television.
His first commercial was filmed at an area hotel and will show him in an orange jersey with no Tiger paw logo or any other connection to Clemson. Schools are not permitted to have any role in NIL.
