On Friday, Ohio State’s star defensive end, Chase Young, was suspended indefinitely for an NCAA violation in which he accepted a loan from a family friend.
Young missed the Buckeyes’ stomping of the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday, and he now awaits the NCAA’s official ruling to find out exactly how many games he will miss. Shortly after his suspension was announced, Young explained the violation in a statement on social media. The Ohio State star says that he accepted a loan from a family friend, which was paid back in full by himself over the summer.
"Unfortunately, I won't be playing this week because of an NCAA eligibility issue," Young wrote. "I made a mistake last year by accepting a loan from a family friend I've known since the summer before my freshman year at OSU. I repaid it in full last summer and I'm working with the University and NCAA to get back on the field as soon as possible.
