2019 Houston Open Odds, Preview & Expert Prediction

The 2020 PGA Tour season has begun, with the FedEx Cup playoffs now very much in the rearview. The big names in the sport will be sitting out for a bit of a break, which means that the line-up at the Houston Open, which will be held at the Par 72 Golf Club of Houston, will be a little more wide-open than usual.

With that in mind, this one might be a little tougher to handicap, but you should be looking for the winner to shoot somewhere in the range of -15 to -20, which is where the winning score lands more often than not. The tournament gets underway this coming Thursday, October 10, and will run through to Sunday. Let’s take a closer look at some of the golf betting favorites for the 2019 Houston Open.

Henrik Stenson

  • 2019 Houston Open Odds: +900

You might argue that Stenson’s best years are behind him, with his best performance on the tour coming back in 2013. In this group, though, he is absolutely a player that cannot be ignored, especially given the fact that he has a pretty decent history at this event.

While Stenson has never won in Houston, he has finished runner-up twice, landing second in 2013 and 2016. He had no wins in the 2019 season to speak of, but he has landed in the top 10 three times, including a 9th place finish at the US Open earlier in the year.

Brian Harman

  • 2019 Houston Open Odds: +2200

While a lot of players take some a bit of a break after the FedEx Cup, others jump right in and get started with the next season. That has very much been the case with Brian Harman, who has played in 3 events already and who is in the top 10 in the FedEx Cup standings, although it is still very early on the year.

He has finished inside the top 20 in all 3 of the tournaments he has played in, which includes a 3rd place finish at the Military Tribute at Greenbrier event. He is off to a solid start and may be the man to put your money on this weekend.

Daniel Berger

  • 2019 Houston Open Odds: +2200

Berger is another player who has decided to get a jump on the 2020 season, playing in a pair of tournaments already. Neither one of those events ended in what you would refer to as a great showing, with an 18th place finish at the Shriner Hospital for Children Open being his best showing.

Daniel Berger is one of the favorites for the 2019 Houston Open.

The 2019 season was much of the same for Berger, who finished the season with just one top 10 finish, which was actually a 2nd at the Puerto Rico Open. He has won a couple of times on the tour, but I would look elsewhere this weekend.

Cameron Champ

  • 2019 Houston Open Odds: +2200

The three players sitting behind Henrik Stenson in the eyes of the bookies are all in at the same odds. The final player in that group is Cameron Champ, which is exactly the type of name that a sports personality should have. Champ has lived up to his name once already this season, taking the top spot at the Safeway Open.

He has been a little inconsistent, with a 28th place finish and a missed cut the results of his other 2 tournaments. At 24 years of age, this is a man trying to break into the tour in a big way. He may well be one to watch and is certainly worth a wager.
