Knicks could be backup plan for Anthony Davis if Lakers implode

Clutch Points

Anthony Davis could reportedly look to sign with the New York Knicks next summer when he becomes a free agent if the Los Angeles Lakers implode in 2019-20, according to Marc Berman of The New York Post.

Davis is widely expected to decline his 2020-21 player option worth $28,751,775. Many around the league would be surprised if Davis doesn’t re-sign with the Lakers on a long-term deal, but it looks like the All-Star big man could have his eyes on the Knicks should the Lakers not meet his expectations.

The 2020 free-agent pool is short on stars, but they could be one of the favorites for big fish Anthony Davis if the Lakers implode. Rich Paul, Davis’ agent, likes the idea of his client in New York, according to a source.
