What’s the status of Josh Gordon’s indefinite suspension from the NFL? Bill Belichick says you need to ask the NFL.
“We don’t have anything to do with Josh Gordon," Belichick said Thursday. “He’s suspended. You need to talk to the league. We have no control over Josh Gordon.”
Gordon is currently on the commissioner’s exempt list following a violation of the NFL’s banned substance policy during the 2018 season. The violation was the latest in a long line of drug-related infractions for the talented-but-troubled receiver. As a result, he’s barred from any league activity or from working with the New England Patriots.
While Gordon was free to meet up with quarterback Tom Brady during a private workout earlier this offseason, Gordon is barred from having any connection to official Patriots business this offseason.
For Gordon to come back to New England, he needs to be re-instated to the league by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. However, there’s been no update from the league on any timeframe for when that could happen.
