The Tampa Bay Lightning have history on their side, fueling confidence that they will be able to sign restricted free agent forward Brayden Point.
"I fully expect to get it done before the start of training camp," general manager Julien BriseBois said Monday. "I don't have a precise timeline. I feel very optimistic, but I don't have any new information with regards to the Brayden Point contract."
BriseBois added that Point, who set NHL career highs with 41 goals, 51 assists and 92 points last season, and similar players with his status as a Group 2 restricted free agent without arbitration rights tend to be the last contracts done during a busy offseason.
