The New York Rangers have signed free agent defenceman Jacob Trouba to a 7-year contract worth $56 million, or $8 million per season. This contract carries him through the 2025-26 season.
Last season, he scored eight goals and 42 assists for 50 points, adding 58 minutes in penalties with the Winnipeg Jets.
His possession numbers were 49.2 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of 0.7. Trouba has spent his entire six-year career in Winnipeg. In that time, he has 42 goals and 137 assists for 179 career points in 408 career games. The Jets originally drafted ninth overall of the 2012 NHL Draft.
He was picked up in an off-season deal that saw him go to New York in exchange for Neal Pionk on the 20th overall pick in the NHL Draft. The Jets actually got back the pick from the Rangers after they sent the pick to New York during the Kevin Hayes deal.
